  • Yarn bowl ?

This is for Carole, Do you or anyone else for that matter remember what issue the knitting yarn bowl was featured in? I need to make one for my sister.

Never mind I found it in the Summer 2014 issue. It is good to look through old issues, it seems I say "I don't remember that " a lot.

Glad you found it Rolf. We all have those issues I believe - some days are just worse then others.

I finished the yarn bowl and gave it to my sister. the woods used Cherry, maple, walnut and maple. the walnut is cut out and I put in 2 lbs of lead shot and poured in polyester resin to keep the shot in place.
I should have sanded the the cherry a bit more to remove the darkened surfaces to reduce the layer lines.
Sanding the inner parts of the bowl was a bit challenging as I don't have the inflatable ball sanders.
Thank you Carole for a great design. Yarn bowl done.jpg

Looks great, Rolf. With 2 pounds of lead shot, it’s not going anywhere! Hope your sister loves it and thinks of you whenever she knits.

Great Job Rolf!!!! I thought about making that, but with two cats that would become a knotted mess. However if it had some sort of attached lid then it may work. On second thought that would just give my cats something new to figure out.

I think the layer lines add some character to the bowl.
A great gift. (You might get a neck scarf or something)

I have not seen one of those before, Rolf, and I rather like it. One for the to do list, perhaps.
