i am reading your book on your chess sets do you use exactly 1 1/2 inch
block it seems your bases are real close to the right dimension no room for area any suggestions on the sizes

Well, while I'm obviously not Jim I do have a suggestion concerning compound cutting - if you want to stay with the 1&1/2 inch block you can print your pattern at 95% or whatever ratio you like - this will give you a bit more room on the block.
