  • Fox Chapel Publishing E-Mail

I have been geeting junk mail periodically from Fox Chapel Publishing. After the last dozen or so times of following the "remove" process , I am still getting it. So I have just been hitting the delete button without ever opening anymore of it. But it is a nuisance and just one more piece of junk mail that I don't need or want.
Hopefully someone in charge here will see my message and permanently remove me from the mailing list.
    Thanks for your kind consideration.

Hi Bill, when you go to the free patterns section of the forum it will ask you for an address, That is one place where fox chapel gets mailing info.
Next time you go to the free patterns link, book mark it as a favorite and then you should be ok.

      Hi Carl;
Sorry, I don't understand. Wouldn't putting my email address in there and bookmarking it just be a cause of even more mail from them?

Once you have entered your email, the window pops up with the free patterns. Bookmark that page, it is different from the first link that asks for your mail.

I get the messages twice, once from this forum and once from the Woodcarving one.
I just consider it a small price to pay for free patterns and the use of the forum.
Besides some of the books are great value.

I don't think we are both on the same wavelength in this topic Carl

I am referring to email that comes to my email inbox advertising their products on both scrolling and carving. I have never carved anything in my life and I certainly don't need unsolicited mail about carving or anything else coming into my mail. . At the bottom of the page it says if I no longer want to receive email messages from them to click on the unsubscribe link and unsubscribe to it. But my attempts to unsubscribe go unnoticed. I don't recall ever subscribing to it in the first place. I assume they got my email address from my profile when I registerd here.
I get a lot of mail every day and I am just trying to weed out the ones I don't need to see coming up in my spam controlling software. I quit trying to unsubscribe because it didn't work so now I just delete it every time I see where it is from. At the same time I didn't want to blacklist them without first giving them a chance to remove me from their mailing list(s).

Nope . . they are nothing to do with the pattern links. I have never subscribed to that one. I didn't even know it was there until Carl mentiond it so I took a look but would not subscribe to it.
Most of the junk mail they send me is advertising their books for sale and seasonal events and promotions etc. but I haven't opened the last half dozen of them to see what they were so it could be something entirely different. I just deleted them..
Oh well , I guess it's no big deal. I will just put the next one into my blacklist and even if they keep sending them I probably won't see them anymore.
Computing used to be fun before the spammers took over.
I am not referring just to this one of course. I think you all know what I mean about all the spam out there and what a job it is to try to eliminate it or at least reduce it.
The more active we are on computers the more spam we will get. I am getting into more sophisticated spam removal programs so hopefully I can remove more spam at the source. I already have a program in place where all my mail can be read BEFORE it comes to my inbox and I can review it and delete or bounce any of it from there and just let the good mail come to my inbox.
Guess it's just a way of life now where some unscrupulous opertors like to try to get free advertising at the expense of clogging up peoples inbox's with junk.

Well William we are so far apart on this topic, looks like more than just a mountain range between us.

Fox Chapel provides this forum free of charge. I really believe that emails promoting books that may be of interest to scrollers is not spam.

I did agree to receiving emails when I registered on the forum and also when I went to the free pattern site.

While you are entitled to your opinion I think it is in poor taste to brand Fox Chapel on their own forum.

                  Bill,

Is that like when you PM'd me to invite me to join your website ?
I'd never talked to you or communicated with you before, yet you sent me a private message to invite me to join your website. That is considered spam in my book, and is covered by the quote from you above.

I did not complain since you were addressing something of interest to me and I joined.

I have to agree with Carl on this: Maybe you should email the Customer service directly and try to work it out instead of coming in here and bashing them on their turf. They are listed in the big yellow "Contact Us" button above. I personally think you showed poor taste in starting this thread on this Forum site.

I understand your beef with spam, having had to cancel an email address of mine because of the spam volume it got. And lately I'm hit by letters offering to sell land in Costa-Rica, American firms wanting to lend me money on my Canadian mortgage or Americans offering free investment tips. Those I'm not interested in and really don't appreciate!

But I know you are into Woodworking, and I'm sure you read. So sending you information on woodworking books would not seem out of line to me. And removing you on request from my list would be the correct thing to do. But glitches happen, I'm in customer service I know, and second chances to correct things are right.

Please don't be the pot calling the kettle black: This is a private matter between you and Fox Chapel, you should handle it accordingly.

                  Respectfully,
                  Marcel

Personally, I love to get e-mail from FC. I am kept up-to-date on the newest publications, and I have gotten some really, really good deals on some of their specials. If the books are about something I'm not interested in right now, I may have carving or scrolling friends who are interested.
And, if I'm really not interested, the delete function is extremely easy to use.
Thank you, Fox Chapel for the magazines, the books, the message boards, and the e-mails.
                    Sandy

                        Hi Rob;
Thank you very much for for removing my name from the mailing list. I have no idea why my attemts to unsubscribe kept failing when I followed the unsubscribe procedure set out in the mail I was getting.
