    The Show

I do demonstrations at our local fair each year with my mentor Roy Brown.
We get in the fair for free but we do not sell any scrollwork except for the pieces we make at the fair.
The whole exercise is to get people into scrolling. The response is always great and I hope when I retire I may be able to do something like this full time. Money wont be such a problem then.
I hope that this year Roy and I can set up a time schedule with specific demonstrations. Fretwork, compound cutting, jigsaws...the works.

Roy and I make a good team, he is in his 70s. He started me scrolling eight years ago. I moved into a townhouse and as a neighbour he came over to meet me. He asked if I had any hobbies, I told him computers and the shortwave radio. He said they are not hobbies and came back within 30 minutes with a 2 speed Delta, a stack of wood and some patterns. He showed me how to attach a blade. Cut into a piece of wood and come out the same line.
Then he said he would check up on me in a week. I have been making dust ever since. This makes a good story to tell the people at the shows. If I can cut wood anyone can.

It is nice to put a face to a name and handle. I will have to do that one day. Is that picture taken at a craft show?? I see the bunting in the table behind you and the projects there also. Are you demonstrating the scrollsaw?? I always wanted to do thast at a show but I would need to hire some help to work the boothe I think. It would be nice to show people what they are paying for when they see the prices. Nice job.

    Just call me junior

Well I am turning 48 this year. I appreciate being called junior.
I also see it has nothing to do with size.....
I actually believe the status is based on the amount of sawdust you produce.
I saw a tagline on one of the woodworking forums...."maker of fine sawdust" I just wish I had thought of it first.
This is an awesome forum, I now have a hard time deciding which I like more scrolling or being here.

I believe you get "senior" status by making 1000 posts.

    Keep typing.......

By the way, my old post count did not make it over to the new board. I noticed a few others did not also. Glitch or still in process?

    Junior and Senior Status

What does this mean? Is it some sort of status that we should be attempting to achieve?
